Description: Established in 2002. Originally known as Sunsports the team was 5/6 regulars plus whoever Peter Koh found during the week to make up the numbers. Features of the early side were ; pre match coaching given to some of Peter's less able signings on how to kick a ball more than 1 metre; attempts at communication (often the signings were not speaking English nor Chinese); hunts for a kit (we didn't have one); no refs, opposition or available pitch. Various players decided to take over control of the side. Several short term appointees had their tenure, but usually shear frustration ended their reign sooner, rather than later. The team in this period was variously known as "Sunsports", "SunA" , "Sunrick" and several other names which have already been forgotten. Sometime during this season Richard Green took over managing the side with the assistance of Simon Murphy. The team then started on the path to the current form. Andrew Conley secured the side sponsorship from Shamus O'Donnels bar and with it our first kit (Green Shirts, Black Sorts/Socks). The team took it's name from it's sponsors and became "SOD's". Mark Munday had the twin role of talisman player and talent scout. Indeed Mark recruited many players on the basis of how many keep-me-ups they could do with an ice cube during late night trials, held mainly in the Fez Bar. For the season 2003/2004 Andrew Conley and Ashley Harvey arranged fresh sponsorship from Carnegies. At about this time a team meeting was held in Ice Cold Beer bar to decide on a permanent name for the side. By now the team had a solid nucleas of players, most of which at some time or other had been associated with the Brewerkz Cosmo League side. Richard lobbied for the team to be called "Nomads", Robin Paxton suggested some Scottish type moniker that ended in "Academicals" but Simon's desire to one day play for a side called "Racing" finally came to pass. So, with a settled side, new sponsor, new kit (White Shirts, Black Shorts/Socks) Racing FC embarked on the 2003/2004 Sunsports Champions League campaign. This season saw players come and go but the spine of the side remained and the standard improved. Michael Goodwin raised the profile of the side by managing to mention some of our games during his radio slot on Power 98 (although sadly this may have contributed to his contract with the station being terminated shortly afterwards). The side finished 3rd in the league and lost the Cup Final to the League Champions, BNP, by 4 goals to 2. At the end of season awards evening held in Carnegies, Lawrence Loy became the first Racing FC Player of the Year, Alan Bridger narrowly beat Eu-Jin for Players Player of the Year and Robin Paxton secured the Golden Boot for Top Scorer ahead of Richard Green. For season 2004/2005 Carnigies have again kindly agreed to sponsor the side. A new kit of Red Shirts, Black Sorts/socks has been purchased and the club emblem designed (White diamond shape, back "R" on a red stripe).
Team Honours: 2003/2004 Sunsports Champions League 3rd Place. 2003/2004 Sunsports Champions League Cup Runners Up.
